Voices - 1 The Concept of GULL

This video outlines the reasons for establishing GULL and draws on the inauguration event hosted by Sir Paulias Matane, 8th Governor-General and Sir Michael Somare Founding Prime Minister, Papua New Guinea, held on 5 October 2007.

The university's mandate is based on a 'statement of recognition' offered in perpetuity and signed by Sir Paulias and Sir Michael. GULL's President, Richard Teare explains the approach used to provide universal access to lifelong learning and recognized awards. Since the launch in 2007, GULL has been endorsed by an array of Government Ministers, Leaders and Institutions around the world. The video includes statements of support from Benson Ateng of the World Bank speaking at the inauguration and Sir Howard Cooke, 6th Governor-General of Jamaica speaking at his home in Jamaica in January, 2008.
