GODDAMN!!! That background cube is definitely not where it's suppose to be at, what with all that clankity clunk tink tunk jive on that space-age piano, wrecking the scene, like some goddamn sledgehammer cutting the first slice out of a wedding cake! And where's the smokes? No one digs the cigs anymore? Man, this ain't no beatnik bunch. More like some Goddman Wal-Mart store employee of the month club, the kind that raffles away Harry Potter and Avatar flicks for high jinks and shit.

The music is very loud- it is hard to hear the words! Also the sound is tinny and trebly, and echoes in that room. Also the musicians play too many notes- even if they were quieter, they would still get in the way of the poetry - IMHO. Hope that helps.

@jondoethegreat Emos and Beatniks are two completely different things....

Beatniks are more poetic, chilled, laid back, individuals. Yes they wear black, but not because it denotes sadness and depression... there are plenty of happy Beatniks.

Emos are usually "depressed", attention seeking, whining kids.

Beatniks usually tell stories, some that don't happen to them (i.e. a friend or relative's experience) ut in a poetic nature.

A beatnik is just someone from like the "beat" generation era thing in san fransisco like 1950/60ish. they basically rejected materialism and sterotypical/conventional bahavior of society back then. i dont blame um, cookie cutter lives are overated.
