Rex Svoboda, course director for BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials, choreographs 800 pound missiles that travel at 200+ mph. Two landing strip type courses reside in the middle of the high desert and it takes a committed team of volunteers, in the timing tower, at the starting lines, and along the length of the 11 mile race track to make it all work.
Rex tells his story of how he became addicted to the salt and gives us an insider's look at life in the timing tower in the center of the Bonneville Salt Flats, the World's Fastest Race Course.
BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials
Where you can 'Run Wat-Cha Brung' on this historical course just to see how fast you can go or try for an AMA or FIM record.
I've attended all of the BUB meets as either a competitor, volunteer, or both, and can say that the event really took off when Rex, Tom, and Bill came aboard to manage the courses. There were some teething problems at the first meets for sure but now the course runs like a well oiled machine [with a little salt in it from time to time] thanks to their efforts. Looking forward to seeing everybody soon! Tom "Pepperoni" Liberatore Mile 4

Wow another good one. This one really lets you see that there is a whole lot of behind the scenes effort and activity in coordinating the event safely, or should I say choreographing. Hats off to Rex, Tom Burkland, and the crew at the tower, as well as all the BUB Volunteers. You guys ROCK -
