Inspired by our traditional envelope style packs, we made the Scout Pack out of the same 15-ounce canvas and premium leather that go into each and every canoe pack we build by hand in Duluth, Minnesota. I also have this one in black from KM. My hand is small enough to reach in the zipper compartment without having to undo the leather straps to get my iphone or wallet.

A key ring to hang keys would be perfect as one pocket will ruin your cell phone and wallets in one compartment. I think the pocket should be against the back of the pack. ( it sags the front panel of the bag ) It is easier when it is facing you when you open it instead of having to reverse the bag to open the zipper.

How come the texture looks kind of wrinkled/scratched? Is that just the nature of waxed canvas in particular, or the canvas itself? Also, the shade here appears different than the depicted wax canvas bag (more green). Does the shade of the waxed canvas vary a bit from bag to bag?

Otherwise, great looking pack, looking forward to buying one soon.
