More than 1,100 U.S. counties now face higher risks of water shortages by mid-century, and more than 400 of these counties will be at extremely high risk for water shortages, based on estimates from a new report by Tetra Tech for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). These ten major cities and seven others are in danger of running out of water in the "near-term future." The list includes: Orlando, Atlanta, Tucson, Las Vegas, Fort Worth, San Fransisco Bay Area, San Antonio, Phoenix, Houston, and Los Angeles.

The United States is undergoing a nationwide drought. This drought is having a deep and lasting effect on the choices regarding where we will want to live in the future. For businesses that rely on water for operations or use a great deal of water in the manufacturing process they should consider expanding to a region where water is clean and affordable. Lake Erie has a large, natural supply of clean water.

Freshwater is one of Erie, Pennsylvania's greatest assets. Located on the shores of Lake Erie our community possesses an abundance of fresh water and fresh opportunities for new businesses and businesses interested in expanding or growing to a climate that's right for growth. Abundant water, sewer, gas and electricity make it possible for Erie, Pennsylvania to support a wide variety of manufacturing, technology, distribution and agricultural businesses.
