This is the oldest bit of a live performance by the Cardigans I have.
It's a clip from Swedish TV on January 11, 1994. Sorry it's so short, but it is sweet! Enjoy!

  • nina looks so fat in this clip. and she's really a brunette!

  • Fat? That's an insane statement. If what Nina looks like here qualifies as "fat", then there must not be a words to describe the size of female singers like Cass Elliot, Aretha Franklin, or Ann Wilson (all of whom are fine artists)...

We can see she is a brunette, of course.

  • you want to know the word to describe aretha, mama cass and ann wilson? OBESE

  • I'd think more like "freakishly obese". All I'm saying is, Nina looks, and is pretty thin in this video. She's only "fat" compared to some starving Ethiopian or some anorexic person.

But who knows, maybe fatness is only in the eye of the beholder. :-P

  • I like her natural hair colour!

  • I remember this and how the Cardigans whole career "skyrocketed" after it. "Nobody" had heard of them before this performance and suddenly afterwards "everybody" knew about them.

It really was an overnight breakthrough.

  • @DSBac Thx for taking the time to reply to this rather inane volleying of opinion regarding body mass. I guess, what i was trying to say that Nina is very plump in this compared to how she looks now which is very slim and svelte. She started shedding off the pounds in 1996 which for better or worse she has managed to maintain except for a few periods of weight gains such as CNN My City...clip in Malmoe where she looks like she's pregnant.

  • I could go either way...I think. I really do think "Life" is an incredible album, but for some reason the Cardigans don't seem to thrilled about it these days. I know people (including the band) like to use the word "matured" to describe how they've evolved musically. I don't care for the term since it suggests the previous work is "immature" in some way. That said, I love their new stuff (mainly LGBD) and glad they did it. But I don't think I'd get bored if they stuck w/ the "Life"style either.

  • bands mature as much as people

if they kept doing the same sound over and over again

we'd probably get bored of em

  • Eh... sort of "twee". Their lyrics were never very innocent. The songs did sound that way at times. I think the band were probably as responsible for destroying their innocence as fame was. Just in IMO...
