Native American rock art was an important art form for the Great Basin Indian people like the Paiutes. Many shamans created them as power points with celestial and animal references. They are scattered all over the Great Basin and they were even found in Yosemite and Hetch Hetchy Valley, which were once Paiute areas.

  • There are symbols that would indicate horticultural patterns, trails & accesses, water sources, and wildlife hunting areas. I can't imagine that drawing on a rock was limited to the medicine man and that it had any mystical power associated with it at all. Maybe it was no more than a local bulletin board . We need to stop all the romanticism and mystical hoop-law or we will never gain a real understanding.

  • I've painted pictographs for the last forty years and where my teachings began for my career of being an international artist, my conclusion would be these sacred writings are all related stemming from the great migration of the native American people from west to east carrying it's scared bundles which one day these bundles will become one again. Peterbrough Ontario holds the same drawings and just need to liston on another level of understandingThey hold the keys to human survival and how long

  • There is famous photos from Hetch Hetchy of adult natives drawing petroglyphs on rocks near their rancheria. So the theory that it was children is absurd.

  • I don't feel that any of the petroglyphs are the work of children, however. Petroglyphic images have to be "incised" into what is a very hard igneous volcanic rock using some pretty sophistocated tools and techniques for the time such as an artisan might use. Plus, the artist would have to have a lot of patience and obstinace to finish the work. Qualities that a child just does not possess.

  • Good video, or, video good. Since it has already been mentioned in another video, yes, it is believed that supernatural entities may have been responsible for the images. Not only that but at least one elder at a site near El Paso had stated that the occupants of UFOs may have responsible for the images. And, we have just entered the Twilight Zone.

  • chinese and egyptian hieroglyphs, to name just 2, have very similar parallels. how old is not really important. what should be noted, however, is that these shapes and meaning are still viable today. illustrations of natural phenomena.

  • Also in Galiza (Jakobusland for Scandinavians) at western extreme of Europe. Big Hugs.

  • You may be right about children not being tall/strong enough to get into some of these places. I still think these beautiful pieces of art were the work of children tho. The simplistic forms shown only in two dimensions and with only a rudimentary grasp of biology. Head, body, arms and fingers. Young children usually express their art this way.

  • How is that? The spring wasn't even invented yet.

They "sprung" back and forth from location to location? They didn't invent the slinky but curious what it really stands for.

  • A child could not scale most of the areas along with the reach needed to place many.

It's hard to duplicate w/o practice and we are lucky nowadays if a child older than you mentioned can even have that type of dexterity.

You try and make one. Bet you a child would do a thousand times worse.
