Jeep Patriot
2007-08 models
FRONTAL OFFSET TEST

OVERALL EVALUATION: Acceptable
Structure/safety cage Injury measures Restraints/dummy kinematics
Head/neck Chest Leg/foot, left Leg/foot, right
Good Acceptable Good Good Marginal Good

Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
Test details:

The Jeep Patriot was introduced in the 2007 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail and B-pillar.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the neck and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag, indicating that head injuries would be possible. Forces on the right tibia indicate that injuries to the lower leg would also be possible. Head accelerations from the roof rail and B-pillar hits were low.

  • Don't believe me? Go check out the IIHS website. Their dummy had a malfunction.

  • my suggestion: keep distance at all times to AVOID/MINIMIZE crashes.

  • Oh IIHS it says 2007-2008 got a "good" over all evaluation.

  • @oggleman Yep.

  • @Raaanch You and I must have a different working definition of the word "like"

  • I like how the safety belt appeared to not have stayed locked...

  • The good distance is put 2 second distance to front vehicle..i agree.

  • true...people lacls common sense...keep a good distance and wait a few second when light turns green.

  • The crumple zone was good but the head protection was poor.

  • Your suggestion is brilliantly simple. The problem is that most people seem to lack sufficient common sense to follow even the most basic advice.

  • True, I saw this a few months ago and it put me off buying one. But IIHS changed it to good because the dummies weren't calibrated correctly.
