@mnmajoritydotorg It works well here in the UK. And the US system is a total shambles: Results of the Commonwealth Fund 'Mirror Mirror on the Wall' report, 2010, which examined seven First World healthcare systems. Overall rankings: 1. Netherlands 2. United Kingdom 3. Australia 4. Germany 5. New Zealand 6. Canada 7. United States

a society is as good as how it treats ALL people

woah - what inspirational fearmongering! Quickly USA - stop the socialized police and fire brigades - they're in evil government pay and slowly slowly bringing communism! Your basic safety, access to roads, schooling and access to information about your rights should all be privatized immediately in order to prevent the 'big' government from bringing in Communism under the guise of guaranteeing your wellbeing!

Im just gonna say this: Fuck Ronald Reagan.

Ok, owning one hospital doesn't even come close to Socialism, let alone Communism. If anything, letting that hospital compete against private hospials to help reduce cost is the backbone of Capitalism.

Reagan was right. The program did pass just as surely as the sun rises. It's called Medicare. And then Reagan cashed his check from the AMA just as sureley as the checks he cashed from GE.

Unintentionally hilarious, camp old video to the rest of the world...serious nostaligia/paranoia fest for the USA.

This ad is disingenuous. Reagan opposed Medicare in this advertisement; yet you won't hear any republicans suggesting we dismantle it.

It's not difficult to follow. When government runs industry, it's socialism. When government owns industry, it's communism. Health care is an industry. The federal government already runs half of all health care in the nation. With the health care bill, Congress and the president want to take over all of it.
The definition of "socialized medicine" is the Government owning the hospital. There is nothing in the health care bill that does that. Please stop trying to imply that. It's wrong, and does nothing to advance the debate on health care.

What do you call it when the government decides what medical treatments will be available to you and your family, when the government enters the health insurance business, when the government mandates that all people must own government-approved health insurance? I call it socialized medicine.
