Well here it is, done back in my final year at Teesside University 2008 on BA Hons Digital Character Animation. This was my final project, it took me from December 07 til about May 08 to do alongside a 20,000 word dissertation and alongside other modules and projects in the last year of my course.
The character's name is Luger, and he's intended to be a purpose-built walking tank that would inhabit a dystopian post-war city, armed with two belt-fed liquid cooled machine guns and a howitzer that is fired from a prone position. He's built to resist ballistic damage, radiation, and most poisons and infections and was intended to be controlled via brain transmitter from a command-bunker as a single search and destroy unit, or part of a squad of similar creatures.
It has plenty of problems, slightly wooden animation and dodgy shadows/render issues but most of the project time went into modelling and rigging as well as typing a monster-sized dissertation. I was a bit miffed as most of the fine detail from ZBrush was lost in the final render but 3D projects often go that way. I used XSI, PhotoShop, ZBrush, UVLayout and Premiere for putting it all together.
Constructive crits and compliments welcome!
Can't believe I've only just found this, great stuff Robbo!
