really wish i was still in my home state when this happened... my brother met Derek that night and got a hilarious picture taken with him. It was probably the worst possible picture taken of DT ever. My brother said he was super down to earth and great to chat with, which I've heard from everyone I know who has had the privilege of meeting him. I love Derek Trucks!! Thank you mainesnowrider.

Cmon people below, Landreth is NOTHING compared to Derek in terms of technical ability.
-
@taildragger51 those two are my favorites too!
-
I'm so happy he has both the courage and the ability to play jazz.
-
this crowd was very bad....so much talking and making noise during the performance...musicians from some cultures find this to be disrespectful and applause should only be given only after the performance.
-
This is basically the exact head of My Favorite Things by Contrane (of course except for Trucks flare). They sound fantastic, holy crap.
-
Why do people talk so much at shows?even this one. all i hear is the low rumble of people talking, happens at every show. its rude and annoying.
-
Although I don't particularly like his playing, Allan Holdsworth has been doing that for years and so have many other guitarists! However I do think that his slide technique is pretty original (although Jeff Beck may have done it first, I'm not sure)
-
have you not heard Jeff beck? Or Richard Thompson? Wes Montgomery? Django? Sounds like you've only been listening to very few guitarists.

I get ya !! Sonny Landreth is the devil!! Derek Trucks is always slipping in a different twist to his playing also! I am glad someone else has heard of Landreth too!!

After seeing so many great players in my lifetime i'm not easily impressed .( i don't wish to sound smug , i'm just bored with the predictable pentatonics) Most guitarists sound very similar, from that Clapton/Hendrix school. THIS young man has my vote every time. Derek T & Sonny Landreth are like a cool, fresh, inspiring breeze. I wish Derek a very long and fruitful career. Thank you mainsnowrider.
