  • @Haydz01 Yes. Nobody makes awesome uniforms anymore. Modern uniforms look like crap and makes you look like a weakling, especially if your in a position of authority. And to complement a crappy uniform, a flouro vest or colours make it even worse. If the system was nationalised once again and conductors back in action, they should have a prim and proper uniform, chrome or brass buttons and everything else, not cheap lookin' shirts and suits. Good uniform = respect...and arse kicking.

  • I myself am a volunteer connie for the Ballarat Tramway Museum, and I think that if we bring back connies to Melbourne as Adelaide have done, then we will be bringing back part of Melbourne's soul. It also makes the tram rides a lot more entertaining (much better than having to interact with an unreliable ticket machine) and what's more, it's great fun!

  • @Raptis0512

Tram conductors will only come back if labor wins the next Victorian State Election, as stated by them, remember, labor has a transport plan, and labor are building victoria, liberal however closed railway lines, 350 schools, 100 hospitals, liberal even cut over 900 police jobs, 2.900 hospital jobs,

We should vote for the Victorian Labor party to win the next Victorian State Election so we get tram conductors including investment on the transport systems!

  • It was the liberal party that took way tram conductors, labor are looking at bringing there back!!

  • @Banez1991

Also, it's not Connex/Metro that train operator that losers money, it's the Government that losers money, the operator of the trams still get paid, under contract,

the tram and train systems are owned by the Government but operated by other companies under contract!

  • The amount of money spent on the Myki project couldv'e paid the wages for connies on trams for the next 20-30 years. Myki... What a joke.

  • @Banez1991 connex was the train company, the conductors are for the trams,

  • Heaps of ppl fare evade on trams anyway and connex loses money .. bring em back imo lol

  • Hmm, my comment didn't show. Well, let's have another try.

We Melbournians loved our tram conductors and I want them back. We lived in an area where trams were the nearest transport and they were a part and parcel of trams. Remember collecting the "stubs"? We always hoped the ticket book was nearly finished so we could get the stub and add it to our collection.

It was a sad day when the government got rid of our connies - they were an institution.

  • there coming back in 2010 -.- idiot lol
