Why not use Mylar? Mirror material, be it more relfective to images, is not more light reflective then Mylar. Mylar reflects about 95% of the light cast onto it. The only thing more reflective then Mylar is Foilar.

  • Mylar is not more reflective and is usually crumply, this ruins your focal point.

  • I have an old snow saucer , it's metal and about 3' wide.I'd like to wrap that with the mirror tape you used, but where do you get the tape?

  • Hi,

    check our website, Mirror film.

  • now will it blend?

  • Could I use a round snow sled for the dish?

  • Why don't you cut the mirror tape in triangular sections?

It should make it easier to avoid overlaps.

  • why don't you use a piece of rubber tube cut along the length to fit around the outside edge?

  • Dan you once made a lens pouring water onto a piece of transparent plastic mounted onto a wooden frame. How about mounting this mirror plastic onto a frame, pour water on to get the shape, then from underneath spray adhesive that sets rock hard. remove the water and then you have a gravity formed parabolic mirror : P what d'y think?

  • to finish the edge, get some aquarium air pipe, cut one 'side' and then slide it over the edge of the mirror base. :)

  • You could cut the material once in towards the center of a circle a little more than the diameter of the dish and it would be easier. might save material too.

  • DOES THAT THING GET HOT? FINISH THE EDGED WITH OLD WEATHER STRIPPING.

  • I like the idea of automotive door trim to trim the edge, or even just slice a thin piece of clear plastic tubing down the middle and glue it on the edge with some silicone or other adhesive
