CDF Freedom Schools & Music Therapy

BaderTV produced video highlighting the CDF Freedom Schools 2008 Ella Baker Child Policy Training Institute. It aired at the 2008 Essence Music Festival.

Through support from Chevrolet the Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools program has trained more than 2,000 mentors for children in ways to integrate music and dance into the CDF Freedom Schools Integrated Reading Curriculum to help resolve conflicts, reduce stress and end violence.

CDF Freedom Schools are dynamic literacy and cultural enrichment programs CDF operates in partnership with community based organizations, schools, faith institutions and universities. In 2008 they are serving nearly 9,000 children in 61 cities, including 2,500 children in the Gulf Region. They have served more than 70,000 children since 1995.
