Gamest Mook is a series of guides published in Japan for Arcade games, typically beat 'em ups, but Gamest Mook also has a number of side series including Gamest Mook World Series guides and also a VHS Series.
Gamest Mook Vol.75 - Street Fighter III: New Generation guide was also accompanied by the Gamest Mook VHS Vol.36 which was released 30th May 1997 with a running time of 72mins.
The tape covered a number of areas in parallel to what the printed guides explained but with the added benefit of seeing it happening on screen.
The general contents of the tape are: 1. SYSTEM, COMBO, VS PLAY & ENDINGS.
As part of Street Fighter III collection I've started I bought this video recently but decided to get a back-up made onto DVD and as an MPEG (2.5 Gig!)
I've decided to split into 5 parts and put it up here for your delectation partly as I haven't seen this anywhere else, it's no longer in print and the odds of anyone outside of Japan seeing this niche piece of SFIII paraphernalia is slim. Also, it's interesting to see the extent of the changes they made from New Generation to 3rd Strike, I couldn't spot any EX moves in NG for instance!

Part 1 Contents:
00:10 Intro
04:20 System
07:33 Judgement Gals Graphity
08:15 VS Gill (CPU)

Enjoy everyone!

  • I agree. I think in third strike the stages are bland, as if they got lazy.

  • The thing I miss most about New Gen and 2nd Impact are the stages (and I guess the music that accompanies them). The colors appear brighter and I found myself wishing I could explore the areas of the stages. A few of them would even change halfway through battle. It was cool.

  • Third Strike has this jazzy feel to it. It makes sense that the backgrounds aren't vibrant and colorful. It's laid back. When you get a perfect nobody yells out "PERFECT!", you get "Alright... now, that's cool.

  • GAMEST MOOK OWNS

  • Do not listen to those ppl that says 2i is better

  • You think 3S is worse? I dunno. If 2I is better, the only reason I could think of for ppl to play 3S more is cos it was newer, but most ppl I know prefer 3S for whatever reasons, I think (it couldn't be the new characters...well...maybe for Makoto). I forget, but I don't think you could parry everything low in 2I (only in part 1/NG), so that's not the issue?!

  • I wish Necro still had the cancellable standing strong... (especially after his target combo)

  • hey shend, thanks for posting these. you've truly got the ultimate sf3 vids collection :)

  • 2 button UOH

  • not really... they just tweaked some of the previous characters and added 2 button throws. and yes the red parry.....
