Briefly, Johnny Burnette recorded the lead vocal on the first attempts but Surf Records got cold feet when they discovered he was potentially still contracted to Coral Records. Dorsey's lead was overdubbed on top and the record was released but Surf got into trouble with Coral anyway because they had both brothers under contract. Finally, Johnny Faire did a good job of syncronising his voice to Dorsey's to make it sound like a double-tracked vocal, so this version features all three singers!

What's the story with this? - I thought Dorsey recorded it first and then his vocals were removed with Johnny Faire recording his over the backing track. But I'm sure I can hear Johnny's underneath the Dorsey version I've got. Anyone know?

I've got the Clint Miller version someplace. Also extremely rocking.

'You wear your hair in a poodle cut,
You walking down the street like a semi-truck
And everyone knows that you're so sweet
You tickle me down to my athlete's feet'
Pure poetry!'
This was 1959...not 1957 I think...I met Donnie in the late 80s as he was the entertainment at a food and drug broker convention (I called on stores selling many brands of products)...He was entertaining and did his MISSION BELL, comedy and impersonations...he died in 2007...nice guy....and he rocked on this song....later done by Dorsey Burnette, Robert Gordon and others.
