@saxplayer59 Just my opinion here, but playing outside comes from using your ears. Being able to hear inside the chords and knowing how to manipulate going in and out. You can play any pattern you want over anything if you know how to resolve it.
Honda plays F#Maj on Nab That Chap and C#Maj on Megalith (sax keys). I can tell you that because I follow (and still do follow) his solos note-for-note. Honda has no weak points. Honda is Honda - you don't mess with his lines
But they cut the video off from Half of JSB. T-Square played it JSB and Jubilee as full songs in the actual concert. And like I said, they played it in E on the T-Square 30th Anniversary Medley.
@RaldyV hmm you are right! that is obviously in a different key. but perhaps it was more easier medley transition into JSB? All the other jubilees are in this version's key, i believe.
masato honda plays in e maj, b maj, and c# maj all the time...i doubt he played it in F maj for any reason other than it a) sounded better to him, or one of the rhythm players couldnt play in that key.
oh and from what I can see from his playing, he is playing in a key that has sharps.....its a half step off from F so a change in the encoding of the audio of the file can make it sound up if the frequency is made slightly higher...his fingers don't lie though. he is playing in e maj
So, Masato Honda wanted to play that song in F-Major instead of the Original E-Major....
So, Masato had a Weak point that Takeshi and Miyazaki didn't have! Takeshi and Miyazaki are able to play "Jubilee" Easily in the Original Key (on "T-Square's 30th Anniversary Medley).
Last 2 minutes are INTENSE.

I reckon Honda wins the duel here, but I prefer Miyazaki's soloing style and tone.

this is what you call tease XO
i think this battle is the key why Miyazaki could become one of the best sax players in Japan
i can't even stand on the same stage with Honda...great job!

Really? Type in Jubilee JSB. They play "Jubilee" in E Major. I'll try to get the "Adventures" album online to see what key it's in.

@RaldyV ?????????
this is the original key.......t-square have never played their songs in diff key on visually recorded medium...

Yeah, And thinking back, Masato doesn't have a Weak point, I mean, "Megalith"-- which HE wrote, by the way-- Is in Concert E-Major.
