Highlights from Act I of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera, "The Gondoliers".

The mic that picked up the sound was highly directional - it was at the back of the hall, but moving around the stage caused different singers to get picked up at various volume levels, depending on where you were on stage.

  • Gosh Luiz! I thought the top F was difficult but you go three notes better and hit a top A!

  • Yes, "F" is the top for Luiz, but this was my first role after not being able to sing well for about 20 years due to acid reflux (undiagnosed) that ruined my hoped-for career. When I started singing again after medication corrected the problem, my (new) teacher said, "You're a tenor" (I had been a baritone).

  • Thank you! G&S always provide enjoyable words and music to sing.
