    aslinn (in the movie) is one of the last of tuatha dedannan, a group of magical people living in ireland before the celts. many of the tuatha de dannan became gods and goddesses of the celts (and symbolized mans interconnectedness with the natural world and in between states. when Catholicism came over (not Christianity - it was there before Catholicism) they demonized the natural world therefore demonizing the earlier pagan religion. they were not brutal in war, they just wer'nt afraid of death

    No, Aisling is an Irish name pronounced Ash-ling. Other acceptable forms are Ash-lin and Ash-leen. The common Irish form for Ashley is Ashleigh.
