@rtb1980, no it's actually far worse. The 3d images displayed in the best shutter glass technology for sale is superior to this. Also I don't get why people care about wearing something no more intrusive than sunglasses. It's not like I sit around and worry about my sun glasses when I go out to the park. In fact I forget they are on my face. I'd rather see better 3d with glasses in my house on a wireless 3d set than see restricted 3d that way. But maybe someday this will be better.

@mitsuevo8mr Sony is a marketing company, they develop and invent nothing. Even teh single gun CRT that Sony marketed as Trinitron was developed by PHILIPS. the Cd was brought to Sony by Philips as a working system, Sony was just brought in for marketing in teh U.S., after Panasonic didn't want to be involved, Matsushita was Philips first choice for dealing with. Panasonic is a much larger company than Sony, sony is gone in 10 years. Their tv's are made for em by Samsung and others, they 0

Does this display support full 1080 p definition in 3D ? or does the autoscopic technoligy lower the detail ? I honestly dont mind the glasses at all but would like the lower cost of passive glasses as long as image quality can be mantained. I have yet to see an autostereoscopic display in person

well no shit it will get better lol. look at how much just normal Plasma, LCD, and now LED tv's have improved. This WILL be the future of 3D T.V's just give it some time. These guys spend millions of dollars trying to improve this and that, it's just a matter of time. Plus the whole glasses idea isn't that great of an idea. What if you have the whole family over, and you don't have enough glasses? Or a birthday party for your kid? Exactly.

@scrap1005 I totally agree, I can't understand the aversion to wearing 3D glasses, I get superb 3D results with my interlaced 3D monitor, and passive circular polarized glasses.

Tell me, how do you want to show the youtube users a 3D TV when almost nobody has a 3D screen on there computer to watch it :-P

Phillips 3D display technology was displayed in previous exhibitions (e.g. NAB 2007). However this video is aimed to display the explanation how the 3D display operates using a novel array of electrically controlled micro-lenses synchronized with the video.
