UNEP has recently released a TV spot on electronic waste (also called e-waste) to raise global awareness of the dangers presented by toxic waste from discarded electronic products such as computers, cell phones, and other electrical devices. This spot has been created and produced by Emerson College, Boston Massachusetts, who won in 2006 a student marketing competition organized by the International Advertising Association in co-operation with UNEP for the development of a campaign on electronic waste.
The spot will be broadcasted on various TV channels and will be displayed at conferences around the world. If you haven't already seen the spot, you can retrieve it here: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=dgleyzes
This spot you are currently viewing is the initial TV spot/PSA that the Mixed Greens, an agency for environmental marketing solutions from Emerson College in Boston, USA designed as an element for a campaign for United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
The goal of the campaign was to inspire a responsible consumption of electronics, offer a sustainable solution for the electronic waste problem, and to raise the awareness about this problem amongst all involved; consumers, businesses and governments. The campaign is also the 2006 worldwide winning entry of the InterAd competition from the International Advertising Association (IAA).
This video is only one element of the campaign and further material such as print ads, a podcast download and a PowerPoint presentation can be seen under http://journalism.emerson.edu/savealife/
The Mixed Greens are a dynamic and highly diverse team composed by eight grad student from five different countries (USA, China, Israel, Jamaica and France). We are currently graduating from a Masters program in Global Marketing Communications and Advertising.
