Welcome to SavantMD, I'm Kati Konersman, registered dieticien and certified diabetes educator. It's 2011, probably with a few pounds extra from those wonderful holiday festivities. I've been flipping through magazines and there's so many tips, such good advice and here at SavantMD we have our own tips and suggestions. These are not tips for losing weight. These are tips for leading a healthy lifestyle.
Let's start, tip number one, if you are really serious about losing weight think calories in and calories out. So fill up first with those foods that have less calories. At your lunch and dinner, always remember to add two servings of fruits and vegetables just think about this, 4 large apples have 60 to 70 calories a piece. So that adds up approximately 280 calories. A triangle of apple pie has 420 calories. You're not even full and you want a second piece. Be savvy about your calories. Add fruits and vegetables so that you add volume to your meals and that way the denser foods, such as your fats, protien and carbohydrates only take up a small amount of your plate
