The monkeys were owned by the University. The exhibit was not adequate for them and they were aggressive toward each other due to lack of space. If you mean the camel rides....they were also owned and trained by the Shriner's. Penguins are not there to entertain you! Not everyone sees butterflies everywhere. The children's zoo was very old and needed renovating for animal health. They are really trying to advance the zoo for the betterment of the visitors and animals.

I can't believe the zoo got rid of the monkeys and all the giraffes died and the elephants weren't happy and they got rid of the goat rides and the penguins are boring. What is the carousel for and why did they demolish the children's zoo and put in new concrete and drink machines? I also hate the butterfly gardens. You can see butterflies anywhere! Sorry, it's just that when I was three, the zoo was my favorite place, and now I don't like it anymore.
