Madeline, age 10, and her bass teacher, Malcolm Stuckey, jamming through an old Zoom 506 bass effects processor (not the current 506II) and a Kustom KBA30 amp. She is playing a Samick Corsair Greg Bennett series "mini-bass." Malcolm is playing a Yamaha. Photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/dales1/sets/72157594535821171/

  • That's an old one the teacher picked up for short money in a shop. Later, I got her the current Zoom 506II, which is an effects processor, and, separately, one of the Zoom effects pedals. As a parent, I'm happy because she's happy with it, it gives her something to experiment with, and she won't outgrow it for a while.

  • Thats right get those calluses in early and it all goes uphill from there. :P

  • better buy that girl a $1000 bass :P

  • This is great. You keep at it girl..... looks like you're having fun.

  • You've got her started on the right path! ;)

  • well, you can get regular strings and measure them up with the old ones and cut them to the proper lentgh

  • Regular short scale bass strings should fit fine if you cut them down. i have LONG scale strings on my 28.6" scale Ibanez Mikro bass. 30" scale strings should be fine on this bass, which has a 25.5" scale. You'll just have to snip them right after the thread starts to get gets thinner.

  • haha, this is definitely one for the baby book

  • Thats freakin adorable. My 10 year old sister is learning guitar and she's really getting somewhere with it. I play bass XD.

  • cool to see one of the mini basses in action. I'm considering buying one, but I'm worried about finding strings for these. Have you been able to locate any that fit? regular short scale are still too long, and I don't think guitar strings would work. thanks in advance, and good playing!
