I think he would have to fall the in just the right (wrong) way and flip himself right before hitting the floor (extra torque) for him to break anything. Otherwise I don't see how that could be more dangerous than an adult human falling from the height of a door knob. Sure, if you fall from that height enough times in different positions you'll likely be injured but, this was just one "incident" where he flopped to the floor. So, chill. People die every day. Today, a rat fell off a knob. Lol.

I'm glad the rat is alright, but his owners could have been a little more careful and at least tried to prevent him from falling instead of just video taping and laughing.

@ItchyGuy87 Depends on how they fall. They still can break their necks.. Or what my rat got, she got in a shock. She's still sometimes in shock because the veterinarian let her fall 2 weeks ago.

guys stop shitting yourselves, the rat is absolutely fine they fall off stuff like this *all the time* the rat is absolutely fine. once i was walking arond the house with my boy splinter on my shoulder and he jumped straight off! other than being a bit surprised he was totally absolutely fine, theyre even more agile than cats when it comes to stuff like this, trust me other than a bruised ego this rat is fine!!

People, rats are durable and tough. I talked to my vet about falls in fact, you know what he told me? Rats are tough. Rats fall from heights that you think would hurt them and walk away without injury. A owner should be more concerned about crush injuries (stepping or sitting on your rat, for example) rather than a fall from a door knob.

@xxUltimateAnimexx Have you ever owned a rat? They may be small but they're tough and durable. A small fall like that isn't going to injure them, my rats have fallen from higher places and have walked away without so much as a limp.
