Extraordinary Gift of Teaching: An Affirmative Prayer for Teachers

Teachers sometimes fall into the daily grind of work, lose their enthusiasm for teaching, and burn out. The intent of this prayer is to remind us of why we became teachers and reignite our passion for teaching. As you view this video, sit comfortably, relax and take a slow deep breath. Consciously read each word. Allow the feelings and power of each phrase to flow through you. Know at a deeper level the truth of who you are as a teacher and educator. Be inspired! Be passionate! Be you!




My Extraordinary Gift of Teaching

I know that we are each bestowed with special gifts. I know my gift is the gift of teaching, given to me as a gift to give to the world.

As a body has different parts, each with their own function, I know I am part of a larger Body and my contribution to this Body is teaching. As each member of this Body belongs to the other members, I belong and contribute to all members of this Body through the use of my special gift.

Because I am aware and recognize this extraordinary gift of teaching is within me and part of me, I know this natural gift of teaching is my life purpose. So here and now, I declare that I will use my gift of teaching for the whole Body, especially my students and their families. I choose to accept this responsibility and gift for the benefit of my students and community.

As I accept this purpose and truth into my life -- right now- I give thanks with a grateful, joyous, and loving heart.

I know that as I release these words, thoughts, and knowledge of my spiritual gift of teaching into the Body, they will return to me strengthening this extraordinary gift, further benefiting my students and community.
