Yes this is the actual video from one of the most strangest albums in shall we say Rock music !
Pat Boone wanted to make an album with famous Rock hits in his very own style, which he did.
The final outcome was a album called "In a Metal Mood No More Mr. Nice Guy" released in 1997.
There were all sorts of Heavy Rock hits including one of THE rock hit, our very own Smoke....
And that's not all, on every version of every song there were guest musicians most of them were the original creators of those songs.
For example here you can see and hear performance of Smoke... with guest star believe or not Ritchie Blackmore, he even appears on this video during his solo.
If you pay attention you can also see late Ronnie Dio in the studio, he was a guest on a version of his anthem Holy Diver.
Hope someone will like this strange fragment in Purple family...

That's awsome and Ritchie seems to like the unconventional like the track he is playing on in the album to be released later this year by William Shatner.
Yes Capt. James T. Kirk himself has embarked on a journey simular to Pat Boone with several Big Name artists including Mr. Blackmore. Strange days indeed.

For some reason, I find this a decent cover, and one of Boone's better efforts.

I love it when musicians have a sense of humor.
He thought it was funny enough to do the covers and it was even better that some of the original artists (like Ritchie Blackmore and Dio) agreed.

Si, this is where Senor Coconut got the idea.
"Pulling kids out of the ground." Must be one of those Christian immaculate conception things.

It would seem more appropriate to compare this to when Joe Piscopo did his Frank Sinatra impression. You can find it on YouTube as "Joe Piscopo As Frank Sinatra.mp4"

well the thing that most metal fans don't know is that when pat boone produced this album, all of the gospel/christian radio stations banned all of his music! lol pat boone was glowing as he was being assaulted from all sides XD pat boone rocks, and, he's a political conservative which is a big plus.

Pat Boone is awesome. Basically he gets a lot of crap directed at him because the media sees him as a symbol of old time america and they want to tear that down. They accused him of racism for covering Little Richard's music even though music covers are very common with the type of lounge singer that he is. Whitney Houston is just like him and she got mega famous for pulling Parton's song for her own use, the Beatles also covered several songs from the 50s and they pissed off Chuck Berry.

I liked his Holy Diver, the instrumentals sounded like a high school band march and his voice was actually a pretty good fit.

i called up a late-night heavy metal radio station years ago and requested pat boone's version of metallica's enter sandman. they actually played it, and the radio host was saying she was suddenly getting all kinds of hate mails & such XD i feel so proud of myself

I know Pat doesn't have a good rep with the rockers, but I think it's cool and amusing that he did this LP. It's actually not bad. I like that he has a sense of humor about himself.
