@kalkikalk1 got your message in my youtube inbox. Yes, I actually DO know that Meb was born in Eritrea, but those of you who don't know, there was a stupid & controversial comment made by a sports commentator when Meb won the 2009 NYC Marathon. When Meb was asked about it, he expressed his disappointment because he is very proud to be an American. Alberto Salazar (3-time winner of NYC), pointed out in Meb's defence, if Meb's not American, then he's not either...he's Cuban. No one remembers that!

BEAST
i was so happy for meb. he really deserves it...such an underdog. while everybody is touting how hall may be the next saviour of american distance running, this guy stays quiet and puts his heart and soul into the sport. don't get me wrong, i think ryan's a tremendous athlete and he is one of the strongest americans we've seen in this distance but the media LOVES to make "poster children" out of mostly reluctant people for things they don't understand.
