CRUISING ON A JONAS BROTHERS LOVE STORY SEQUEL chp 24

NICK: Are you all right? You seemed really scared earlier.
SARAH: I'm good now, but the dark was really creepy back there.
NICK: I know what you mean.
SARAH: About that song...
NICK: Did you like it?
SARAH: [Smiling] I think it's your best.
NICK: How did you know I wrote it?
SARAH: You've been humming it for a while now.
NICK: You noticed that?
SARAH: Of course I did.
NICK: Did you notice the wet spot on Joe's pants?
SARAH: [Laughing] Are you serious?
NICK: No, I just wanted to make you laugh.
SARAH: Well it worked.
NICK: You're coming on tour with us right?
SARAH: Yeah, why do you ask?
NICK: We're getting a new bus and new bunks. The new bus is better than the last one.
SARAH: How? The last bus had 4 HD TVs in it already.
NICK: [Winking] You'll see.
SARAH: Well, I wouldn't mind riding in a bus with a pool.
NICK: A pool? We have the beach right now. Do you want to go for a swim?
SARAH: As long as you promise me one thing.
NICK: [Confused] What?
SARAH: Please don't get stung again.
[Nick laughed as he took her hand and pulled her toward the water]

SHERYLL: It was like that for me, too, except I saw something that I thought I should do for myself. You have all the fame, Joe. I saw how happy you were to perform in front of all those people and give your fans so much of your time. I wanted to do that too.
JOE: So you want me to believe that once you hit it big, you would've come back to me?
SHERYLL: If you would've let me.
JOE: You're on billboards bigger than most peoples' houses; you're in magazines only the top models are in; you go to fashion shows across the world. Aren't you satisfied yet?
SHERYLL: Joe, I want to get my life together before I get into a relationship I know I want to be serious in.
[It was like a light bulb had gone on in his head, a bright one. Her words set his heart pumping]
JOE: [Smiling] Are you saying that you love me?
SHERYLL: Yeah, I am.
JOE: And you'll marry me?
[Joe had said so fast, so calmly, so surely, Sheryll wasn't sure he had said it]
SHERYLL: Joe?
JOE: I said would you marry me?
SHERYLL: Do really think now's the time? I mean, we both have our careers and we're still young... and...
JOE: [Taking her hand] Sheryll, I know how much your career means to you, and I would never ask you to give it up. And I'm 22, you're turning 21, that's not young anymore. But I want to know that you'll always be mine.
[The way he looked into her eyes made her want to say yes, badly. But this was a big thing and there were so many other things to think about]
SHERYLL: What if you meet somebody that you'll love more?
JOE: I've probably seen more girls than any other man alive, besides my brothers that is, and none of them have eyes that say what yours do.
SHERYLL: And what's that?
JOE: That you love me for me, and nothing more.
[Sheryll held onto Joe's hand with both of hers]
SHERYLL: I'm not saying no, but I want us to wait a little bit longer. You know until your party-night drama is all over and until I get back into rehearsals. Then we can figure out what to say to our parents. But the media cannot know.
JOE: [Smiling] That's a yes, right?
[Sheryll smiled back at him and reached up to give him a kiss, then she whispered into his ear]
SHERYLL: Yes.
JOE: Too bad I don't have a ring.
SHERYLL: We have plenty of time.
JOE: Right. No rush.
[He pulled her into a tight hug. She could feel his breath on her hair and felt the texture of his shirt on her face. His smooth arms held her close and she wished she never had to move]
NICK: Hey lovebirds!
SARAH: Time to get home.
NICK: Yeah before it gets dark and the paps want to make us front page again.
SHERYLL: Paps?
NICK: Paparazzi.
KEVIN: Ready to head home?
[Kevin walked up eating an ice cream cone]
JOE: Hey! Where'd you get that?
KEVIN: I don't remember. I was just walking around and found a little store.
NICK: How can you not remember? What if that's contaminated?
JOE: I want one.
KEVIN: No.
BIG ROB: Come on. Cars are running.
NICK: If you get sick I will totally say I told you so.
[Everyone followed Big Rob]
SHERYLL: [Whispering to Joe] So much for no rush.
[Joe chuckled and stole a kiss before they were piled into the car. The ride home was noisy with the boys fighting for the ice cream—even Nick wanted some. Sarah and Sheryll were singing along to the boys' new song]
BIG ROB: We're here.
[Sarah was the first to be dropped off. Nick walked her to the door while everyone else pressed their noses to the window, waiting to see if Nick would kiss her. Nick was smiling as he came back into the car. When they pulled up to Sheryll's building, Joe walked her to the front door]
JOE: Goodnight.
[Joe put his hands on her waist and kissed her for a brief second]
SHERYLL: Sleep tight.
JOE: Eat right.
[Sheryll laughed as she pulled out of his arms and walked in]
NICK: I'm guessing you and Sheryll are together again?
JOE: [Closing the car door] Something like that.
