  • 1. The Little Mermaid

    2. Born on the Fourth of July

    3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

    4. Field of Dreams

    5. The Fabulous Baker Boys

  • the little mermaid is the only acceptable choice here =)

  • Another superb year in which several great scores were understandably unrecognised, whilst any of the five nominees would probably deserve to win in a standard year.

It also marked the first year of Disney's unstoppable decade-long domination of the Oscar music categories, although I shouldn't complain since 'The Little Mermaid' soundtrack was one of the first cassettes I owned

  • 1. Field of Dreams

    2. Born on the Fourth of July

    3. The Little Mermaid

    4. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

    5. The Fabulous Baker Boys

Notable omission(s): All five nominees were excellent so it's a pity there was no room for Danny Elfman's iconic Batman score. It's also a shame Glory (James Horner), Dead Poets Society (Maurice Jarre) and Driving Miss Daisy (Hans Zimmer) couldn't be recognised. Ironically, Miss Daisy won several Oscars, including 'best film' it probably didn't deserve.

  • 1. Born on the Fourth of July (John Williams)*****

    2. The Little Mermaid (Alan Menken)*****

    3. Indana Jones and the Last Crusade (John Williams)****

  • Born on the 4th of July or Field of Dreams should've won.
