I think Anette sounded fine, but to be honest I prefer Tarja on this song. She hit the right notes, but she didn't sound the way I was hoping. =P

Ah well, Anette's still awesome.

Anette's version is so good! actually it's not just "version" It's Nightwish's great song and Anette fucking owns it!

Well, to me and many others, it does still evoke that same ambiance of the original. I agree that Tarja's version evoked a siren's song. But Anette's "aaaye aye aye" gives a sense that the siren is actively calling to "the sailor" rather than Tarja's version where it sounds as if a siren is passively singing with no intent on luring the sailor in. Though the part @2:35 I do prefer with Tarja; she used a very unique style of singing that made it sound more exotic.

In my opinion this version changed the sense of the song, because when Tarja vocalized, it evoked a Siren's singing, that a sailor in a ship (Marco in this case) could hear, but that eeeeiiiiiaaa eeeeeiiiiiaaaa from Anette doesn't evoke a siren, at least not to me.
