Playing the Grande Overture by M. Giuliani, during Northwestern University's National High School Music Institute (NHSMI) guitar concert in the summer of 2006.

I realize that I do happen to drag a little during the arpeggio parts, and make a few mistakes, but overall, I feel the interpretation was good.

  • someone's been practicing! damn, braa!

  • please, i did not say the piece is easy. I said there are more difficult pieces.

And yes iam playing it too. quite nice.

  • I think people that calls this music easy have never played it. I've never heard a prober version of it. And when even the biggest of guitarists can't make a prober version i guess it's pretty difficult.

I'm playing it myself, and i'm studying at the conservatory, and i recently played giuliani's first concierto with a professional orchestra.

  • Copying something off a piece of paper does not even come close to measuring ones skill. Creating your own music with the techniques and influences on the other hand is.

  • Yep, there are in my humble opinion, also many many more difficult pieces out there. This piece in comparison is easy and the comment with the four hour practice on the most virtuositic guitar etudes is also not right....

But the guitarist in this vid is good. i like it.....

  • This is a very difficult piece, but not one of the most! It's one of the most "simple" sonatas that a student could bring to his last exam of conservatorium. There are many sonatas much more difficult than this one.

  • reflects dynamic color my ass.

  • This is one of the most difficult classical guitar work ever written. One need to practice at least four hours on some of the most virtuositic guitar etudes before scratching its surface.

This playing seems to lack a little dynamic color. If this can be refine a bit it will be very fine.
