@dcjramos02 actually there's a champion boxer who was a medical student too. after he got the champion belt, he retired and back to being a doctor for the society.

just so u know, some anime do refer on real live people, and for this one boxer. go check on wiki.

@cet0708 well there was an irish champion in he 80's that was also a medical doctor, mybe sanda is narurally smart like a genius and things come easy for him

I think Sanada is one of my favorite opponents of Ippo, especially as a fellow med student haha. As others have remarked though, I have no idea how he has time to split between school and boxing/training. Plus, the danger of damaging one's hands or brain is an incredible liability in the medical field .... eh, whatever, I love this anime/manga anyway!

@dcjramos02 They kinda explain it. He barely has anytime to himself. Plus he's a genius. So anything he learns, he remembers. That's why out of all the title defenses, Sanada is probably the hardest for Ippo

Sanada got owned 3rd round. Ippo looked weak hell when he tried 2 punch Sanada. He was being dodged so easily shoot...I might could dodge him.
