Sorry, in addition "Mina-san arigato, ittekimasu!" is "Thanks everyone, and we're off!" which is what he says in this clip.

    Hey,

"gamate kudasai" 「頑張って ください / がんばって ください」 is the Japanese quote at liftoff. The English equivalent to "gambate" we usually use is "good luck." But "gambate kudasai" most literally means "Have courage please!" and is a well wish to encourage people to face challenging circumstances well.

  • This was about the most perfect countdown to a launch I have ever watched. Commander Mike Kelly's line is on the mark. IT IS the greatest show on Earth! I'm guessing on his Japanese quote so if anybody knows what he said, I'll fix it. About the only mistake was Commander Kelly calling Launch Director Mike Leinbach "Jeff" possibly thinking he was talking to NTD Jeff Spaulding.

  • Launch Director: "Discovery, Launch Director."

    Commander Mark Kelly: "Go ahead."

Launch Director: "Okay Mark its ah a gorgeous day to launch so on behalf of the KSC Launch and Processing Teams, I'd like to wish you good luck, Godspeed as you deliver the next piece of Kibo to the International Space station." -continued below-

  • -continued from above-

Commander Mark Kelly: "Okay ,thanks Jeff. You're right we're going to deliver Kibo or hope to the space station. And while we all tend to live for today today, the discoveries from Kibo will certainly offer hope for tomorrow. Mite shon arigato itte kimasu. Now stand by for the greatest show on Earth,"

Launch Director: "Thank you sir. NTD, with that you are clear to launch Discovery."
