how about...for the top when the suction gets hight enough a small rubber hole opens then close when the suction decreases....it closes back up again, sort of like the special ketchup bottles, tell me how this works

is it just a stick magnet at the bottom, and then when you turn it on it spins around rapidly? i did this in my school once. i think O.o

No, this is a different type than the spinning magnet design. My tornado machine uses an electric motor to spin blades inside the water, which requires a shaft seal that the spinning magnet design does not.

It does feel pretty cool if you stick your finger in there because you can feel the air swirling around your finger.

yes, because when the tornado is formed a fair amount of suction would be created if the lid were on which tends to allow water to pass the mechanical shaft seal. So, no lid = water on floor. :(
