Screencast demonstrating how to run VTK Python examples simply and painfully using the DRE (DeVIDE Runtime Environment). The same principle applies for ITK, numpy, matplotlib or wxPython examples! Install the DRE (click-click) and then let it loose on your python files!
To summarise this screencast: If you want to run VTK-using Python examples, download and install the DRE (DeVIDE Runtime Environment) for your platform, then invoke "dre" on your Python file.
The Python example in the video can be downloaded here: http://db.tt/gLWwyG34
See the followup screencast to this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FwPw9qlsms
You can download the open source DRE from http://graphics.tudelft.nl/Projects/DeVIDE
Could you please put a link to the vtk1.py example? It might help people
