His youthfulness in the summer of 17 became our ever-lasting memory. At 22 he shifted gears and became a professional racer.
Jimmy: When I am in a race car my focus is totally different.
At 32, he came to our studio. What hasn't changed is the determination he pursues his dreams.
Jimmy: When I am interested in one thing I am very determined to follow thru.

Jimmy Lin, with his handsome babyface, entered showbiz In the 90's. 15yrs later, with the same babyface, he entered our studio. He was late because he had too many engagements on the day.

Host: I waited for you for a long time.
Jimmy: I am sorry
Host: that's okay.
Host: welcome everyone. We are glad to have the Taiwan singer, jimmy Lin with us today. I think it's too simple to describe him as a singer because he has many other roles: racer, singer, actor, CEO. Let's welcome Mr Jimmy Lin.
Jimmy: Hi everyone. I am Xiao Zhi, Lin Zhi Ying.
Host: Let's talk about your new tv series, My Lucky Star. What's it about.
Jimmy: This series means a lot to me. I've been in showbiz for 15 yrs. This is my 1st modern idol series.
(This TV series was made for Jimmy. He can show off his racing skills and he can also combine racing with his acting career. )
Jimmy: I played the 2nd young master of a jewelry empire. I didn't want to inherit the family business and went to become a F1 racer.

(People said that Jimmy is the best singer among racers and the best racer among singers. But no one could understand why after so many achievements in singing he'd choose to become a racer.)
Host: You are a singer and a actor. You chose to become a racer and a lot of people thought that it was weird. Someone like you, with your image, it is far from that of a racer.
Jimmy: from a singer to a successful racer is very difficult. Why's it so difficult? When I first started racing, people thought that I was just going to have fun, to look cool. They look at it suspiciously. But for me, I am quite strong-willed. Doen't matter. I'd just do it.
(Because of his love for racing, he became a professional racer in 1997. When he first joined racing the media scoffed at him and his peers doubted him. He won third place in his first race. But his racing dream almost broke in an accident that followed. )
Jimmy: in my 2nd year of racing, when I tried to block another car I crashed into a wall at 150/160 kph. I broke 3 bones in my foot. I rested for 6 months. And there were a lot of voices. "Hey, you see. I told you so. He's injured."
Host: Yeah, I told you so.
Jimmy: my family was against it and everyone worried about me.
(After the accident, there were lots of disapproving voices and his parents were more against it.)
Jimmy: my enemy is not other racers. It's myself. I kept challenging my own lap records. Then I suddently realized how come my opponents couldn't catch up with me. Then I could easily overtake others.
(Over the yrs. Jimmy's racing records have been overstanding. He won 7 winner's cups in 2001. He used his records to prove that he was right in choosing racing.)
Jimmy: I want ppl to know more about me from racing because all ppl knew about me was from acting. They don't know about the changes in me from 17 till now. I was very lucky to have a role in My Lucky Star, to be able to combine racing with acting.

(He became an overnight sensation at 17 but had to say goodbye at his peak. He was lost after he came back.)
Jimmy: I even used my spare time from the army to record songs.

(This is his performance from 1992. His hair style and dance steps became a trend at the time. From 17 to 20 he recorded 3 albums and made 3 movies a yr. He was pushed to the peak of his showbiz career.
Host: you became very famous at 17 all over the country.
Jimmy: at the time I didn't give it much thoughts. I was discovered at 16, trained for a yr, then debuted at 17. For me the word 'hung' meant nothing to me. I just made an album and a lot of ppl knew me. Then came work and more work. I didn't have time to enjoy being a teenager.

I had never heard of Jimmy Lin until I watched My Lucky Star. He IS cute! At first, I thought that he was 26...never knew that he would be 33! After watching My Lucky Star, he's probably one of my favorite actors/singers! I hope he'll star in more Taiwanese dramas!!

omg.... i was a kid when this came out... i was sooooooo in love with him... even to this day i still have all my original collections of his posters... albums, stickers..etc. some of the posters r still up on my wall.. he is still as cute as ever...
