Mk ultra picked up the research being done in another project which was the continuation of Nazi mind control and torture experiments.

Actually the nazis had already found out how you can create alter egos. So now here we are 80 years later not believing it can happen. Just think about all the research they could (and probably did) have done in all that time in order to perfect it.
