5 week basset hound puppy

Playing with our new basset hound pup. Just to clarify, we did not take her home at five weeks, we were at the farm to pick her out and give a deposit. We took her home at eight weeks.

bassets are not lazy they are stubborn but they are hound dogs and breed for endurance they can walk for miles they should never be fat i have 4 and they are working dogs they work in a pack like all hound dogs you can train them but you have to be patient good luck they are great dogs

A puppy committed to my level of activity. If more people were honest about how much they "take their dogs out for a run"... There would be a lot of Greyhounds looking for a marathon partner.

America, let's face it... This dog is custom made for about half our population, myself included. Actually I had a truly wonderful Basset many years ago, he was such a perfect dog for me. He did like to go for walks a lot... Just not very fast. When he did run it was like "poetry in motion"; this went up

My basset listens to me when she feels like it. Otherwise, she couldn't care less what I say.

the thing with bassets seems to be: they love to challenge you for how long you can ask them to do something. :D if you see a basset walking towards you, DON'T SAY ANYTHING. :D otherwise the basset will stop and start staring at you like "challenge accepted"

Our Basset was stubborn at times but food talks. She knew all the tricks, it was never a question of her being dumb or lazy. Just her letting you know who's the boss. To clever if you ask me.

I used to think my basset was the cutest thing ever, until she broke her leash and chased a rabbit and killed it, i remember she came back with blood all over nose and mouth. Awee hell its just in her breed to do that, i was actually quite proud of her. :)
