We have bought this mowing attachment (Bellon Mario, type L1150) for our 'eco mowing policy'. That means mowing twice a year to decrease the amount of nutrients in the soil, and thus giving rare and special plants the opportunity to grow, for example orchids.

It fits on our Kubota BX2200 22hp compact tractor. See the video for a demonstration.

Additional notes;
- If you experience problems with steering, buy additional counter(front)weights
- Use goggles while mowing, you can have debris launched at you
- Wide grass tires are recommended, for minimal compression of the soil.
- Try to mow in dry conditions!
- Grease the PTO shafts often
- Don't lift the mower deck to high, this creates to large angles for the PTO shafts

Please ask if you want to know more.

  • Do you think we could one of these in canada? i'm looking for one to cut a small bit of hay behind my kubota bx2230

  • @farmhandstudios I have searched for in in Canada, but haven't found any for compact tractors yet. Is it that difficult to import one from the USA? Perhaps you could also look into sickle or flail mowers for compact tractors.

  • hi,

i have done a search on Bellon..but does not including the models you mention.. here.. however with regards to this mower. i like to grow my own vetch on my little farm. it tends to over grow and get entangled too. do you think it would be hard on the mower? have you ever worked similar kind of grass?

  • @roveritis Apologies for the late response, been busy doing vacation. ;)

Try a search for 'Bellon disc mowers' for a general search of Bellon disc mower models. They have the AB, P/A and L series, each model has a different setup.

As long the ground is reasonably flat and without rocks/large debris this mower can take on a lot, doesn't matter how high the grass is. Pure bramble/bindweed patches are a no-no. you need something that shreds for that.

  • @Mueiwark good morning again. i finally got to find the website and contact him - been busy during last year sorting a used CAEB baler if u watch it on my vids, that is why i took long to find Bellon website. :( but problem is on bellon website there are no details tech cards of this machine. i got to contact someone from the factory and the adviced a rear mounted 1metre model for the B7001 but if feel it is narrow. I think it is the TU1000.

  • @roveritis Hello there. I looked at the TU-1000 and it does look indeed like our version. The 1 meter model is to short in my opinion (it has only one disc I think). Mind you that the tractor will need to have to have sufficient power to pull the TU1000 model. I looked it up and it required 14 horsepower tractors (minimum). Good luck hunting!

  • if you search for iseki TU1700/2 you see an isek with a rear mounted TFU mower from bellon. seems similar to what i have in mind plus it is lighter on the rear of machine in slopy areas. the tfu1000 is around 90 the 115 is 95kg. all i would need is have a couple of spare rear turf wheels so that i am a bit gentler on the vetch being cut. i think .

  • @Mueiwark hm the kubota b7001 i have is rated at 16hp - looking at the manual of the B7100 model which shares the same D750 engine. so could handle the 1 meter version nicely the 115 model would be having the engine working at a stretch to keep it spinning easily in thick grass and vetch? . . .1 metre cut is just enough in my small fields i dont tackle big fields with plenty of acres to deal with. just small terraced ones. . . .

  • What a nice setup you got there

  • @farmhandstudios i have seen them in the united states for sale they dont cost much new 2700-3600 us dollars they have a 5-6-7ft mowers the 5ft takes a 20hp tractor to run it

  • @Mueiwark yeah, we were thinking about a sickle mower, but we realy like this. We would import, but that could cost allot of money.

  • Very cool! This seems to be a smaller version of a disc bine that we use on the farm to mow hay. These disc bines cut clean and make the job much faster in tall thick grass.
