I don't miss the JD 1820 one bit at all. Our down time last spring with the Bourgault 5710 was next to nil. The bourgault is easier to set the depth, the frame is deeper, and the cart is so much easier to use and calibrate.

How do you like it compared to the john deere you had?

We usually run between 5.5 and 6.5 mph. I am using a Ez Guide Plus with Ez Steer and T2 controller.

I like how it disturbs some soil... good for warming up the ground. How fast do you go 5 mph? Is that auto steer or just a light bar?

hmm... any "M" stamps on those banders on the top 2 bolts? :p or i wonder if that was before we started putting assembly/operator stamps on them....

Also would like to mention. How does it pull. We have a tg450. with the 6550 cart. Do you think we have enough hp to pull it?

The drill itself pulls easy it is all the weight when the cart is full and you are pulling a Nh3 tank, especially in the hills. I think you will be fine with the TJ 450, traction in the hills will be the big thing. You can do like I do and not fill the cart all the way full when you are working in the hills. How do you like the TJ?

Hey There,
We just go a 5710 series 2 with mid row banders. I guess I just want to know if you like this drill and any pointers would be appreciated. I am also from ND. The SW corner.\

I really like this drill, it is so much better to the JD it isn't even funny. Pointers...First off don't run the banders too deep, it will pull hard and the bander blades and scrapers will wear more. You will get some puffing with Nh3 on cold/humid mornings but it looks worse than it really is. Number two..these drills really pack the seed so decrease your depth if moisture is good. We seed wheat at 1.0 to 1.25". Any more questions message me here and I will give you my email. Good Luck!
