We shear our sheep once a year at our Woolapalooza festival in March. Our shearer removes each fleece in one piece using hand snips. Shearing doesn't hurt the sheep but instead helps them get ready for the warmer days ahead by removing up to 10 pounds of fleece. Once washed and cleaned, each fleece produces enough wool to make about two sweaters. Visit the Sheep and Goat Barn at Drumlin Farm in Lincoln, MA to see how much wool the sheep have grown since their last shearing.
