Talking Mickey Mouse was available for conversations during a special meet-and-greet on Aug. 20 & 21 of the 2011 D23 Expo inside the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts "Carousel of Projects" pavilion. Guests lined up to have a rare live conversation with the Mouse himself. Here you see my short chat with Mickey along with several other attendees who asked him a few questions, received autographs, and posed for photos.

  • When I went to him it didn't seem like he had a delay or have a pre-recorded message. I felt that convo went smoothly!

  • @MissADuante At the Expo, Disney was testing two variations of talking Mickey Mouse. I only saw this one, which uses pre-recorded lines, but another was present that featured live dialogue. It sounds like you got to talk to the "better" one. I wish I had!

  • I think this Mickey has pre-recorded audio. But I did remember seeing a video of Mickey at Toontown at Disneyland that had personalized responses, etc. I think it was only a beta version though.

  • @FantasmicMouse While standing there, I heard several people say the same thing to the nearby cast members. This is, indeed, a different variation of talking Mickey. The totally talkative one in that infamous in-park test caught on YouTube has only since come out for special events on stage, conversing with executives and celebrities. This version, with pre-recorded lines, is the one that's been tested in Toontown and now at the D23 Expo. The future of talking Mickey is unknown.

  • There's a HUGE delay when you say something to him, it's definitely pre-recorded

  • i don't care for this. it was so much cuter and better when he didn't talk. and i think you can tell that itsdelayed and pre recorded so it will probably ruin the magic for kids past the age of 6ish. my opinion

  • no... there is a camera and micerphone in the mickey head that runs into a control room where the mickey impersonator adds the vocals from. thats for the live voice one.

  • I honestly think that this is pretty cool. I just wish that they had this in my generation :( but oh well. I think that there is like a microphone in mickey and with a "special effect" that makes him sound like mickey. Sort of like the chipmunk effect but in mickey form.

  • lol that guy at the end might have been testing him to see if it's prerecord. he ask him to say something specific to see what the response would be.

  • @LikeMyEpicComments It's a costume with an animatronic face; I'm sure there's an operator watching from somewhere who's in charge of Mickey's pre-recorded reactions, while the guy in the costume simply poses.

  • @Superronny212 Costume.

  • wao! it Fantastic!

Talking Mickey Common Please at Tokyo Disney Resort!

  • Is he animatranic or a costume

  • How does this work?

  • This is just so awwwwesome! HOMG

  • I don't care if it is pre-recorded or live or whatever! I just LOVE Mickey talks now <3 !!! That's AMAZING!
