is Bell Island... Chatted with a chap from there, and he told such tales, and such beauty... I want to one day see. To spend a summer upon the isle..

and feel the way of life.. the lilt to the voices, the beauty of such a place...

listen okay, the seal hunt is nothing, we shoot seals, we do not cause them pain, nor do we club them, newfoundlanders are the nicest people in the world, some idiot killed a seal with a club (which is illeagal) and now everyone thinks newfoundlanders are ruthless, trust me, were not, if we seal hunt, we shoot them, its the same thing as moose hunting or any kind of hunting, if you complain about the seal hunt, its just as well you complain about every kind of hunting

the seal hunt has been part of newfoundland culture for a very long time. When our fishermen go out to hunt seals, they do not commit bloody acts of murder (such as clubing them). They shoot them with shot guns, so they die a harmless death

I worked in the fishing industry (in Ireland) for twenty years. I often long for the ocean and the boats, so I can relate to this song. It's sad that the fishing in most places is all but gone,but don't blame the government or the seal.The industry it self caused it, by allowing massive trawlers and factory ships to deplete the fish stocks.I agree with markdj431.The seal kill is a disgrace,but don't blame socialism,it's capitalism that drives people to commit wrongful acts.from Bosco in ontario

I used to dream about living in the city. Now I am really proud to be in Newfoundland. And im only young. When I think of "survivors" I think of my grand parents and great grand parents and stuff. living with no electricity (spelling?), in outport communities and stuff .
