Pseudomugil gertrudae (Spotted Blue-eyes, but I call them gertrudes) just introduced to a new tank all to themselves. It seems they like it!

It's a 29-gallon tank with six P. gertrudae, three males and three females. No other livestock. It does have lots of java moss and other plants attached to the bare bottom (it's a slate-bottomed antique aquarium). I just moved them from my 55 gallon tank, which had various peaceful fish in it including threadfin rainbowfish (I. werneri), Viet Nam white clouds, a few killies, and lots of red cherry shrimp. I didn't see them displaying to this extent in there--there was more of the flickering sort of display (which is generally male displaying at female) and less of the male-to-male displaying that they're doing in this new tank.

The tank has a sponge filter (sponge over the intake of a HOB filter, simple and cheap). These are quite small fish, under an inch long, so I'm not too concerned about filtration in this size tank! Lighting is a single compact fluorescent bulb, which is why it gets much darker when they move away from the center of the tank. Temperature is about 80 degrees.

I am hoping that there will be babies soon! I've bred this species before, but only had a few fry survive. I believe that was in a community aquarium but it's been a while and I'm not certain. Hoping to have better luck this time! I plan to leave the adults in and raise the fry alongside them.
