His influence on Steve Perry of Journey is obvious. What a soulful voice. Sam's music should be in Music 101 for every singer. He was simply the best.

@tbursee i agree sam doing something unheard of as a black artist it made the big folks uncomfortable to see that independance and business sense coming from somebody they usually would try to pull the wool over. wouldnt suprise me some dirty rats planned something to slow the progress he was making not just for black artists but artists in general really , that stuff still go on right up to michael jackson
