@itsvuman, totally. from what i know, vietnamese have no problem w/ the pronunciation. you might have to learn the grammar and stuff but the pronunciation is a piece of cake to you. non-vietnamese/cantonese speakers have told me that the two languages are very similar and they have a hard time telling them apart.

@HingM3i If i was going to learn .. I'd learn Cantonese because I'm pretty sure most famous people like Nicholas Tse uses Cantonese so yeah..

Cantonese uses different placement of tongue and different mouth shapes to pronounce sounds than the Latin-based languages. Depending how old you are when you begin to learn Cantonese, it might be quite difficult to accustom your mouth to that type of motion.

Learn Mandarin -- you'll have to deal with only 4 tones, instead of the 6 phonemic tones of Cantonese.
