the camera man looks very white XD

funny but I think marquez could have handled it, but the reason is because jim wanted to ask as many questions as he could

De nada, mi pana.
Was wondering if it's possible to get you to sign the bandana. I'll pay for shipping!
Seriously though, I (we) just thought it was funny as hell to bring you out like that, looking like a regular dude.
And btw, I'm not a big fan of Ray Torres' translations.

I have been a Cameraman for HBO for over 15 years. Jim Lampley is a friend of mine and yes he does know me and NO he is not racist. Jerry (regular translator) thought we were not doing an interview because Marquez had left the ring and then he did. All I did is step up to help were I could.

This is Luis. My kids thought it was great what happened to me and even funnier with the comments and wanted me to say thanks or should I say "GRACIAS".

well lapley knew the guys name and prob knew that he could speak spanish as could the other ppl who would have been speaking to lapley through his ear piece. i don't think it was racist because the guy did speak spanish and he tried to help translate quickly as they had to extend their show for JMM.

i fucking love luis the cameraman
i hope he replaces the current shitty interpreter

I think its racist too and give Juan a break he likes talking english when he needs to he prides himself cause of it, he should punched lampley in the face that was an insult to his english. It reminds me of me when my girl asks me to talk to the chinnese lady i feel like saying bitch learn to listen and you'll understand, i'm puerto rican and she assumes i understand the chink better.
i think it's racist to find the nearest brown person, the cameraman, and assume he speaks spanish (not all brown ppl do).
Plus there was a lot of racial tension leading in to this fight, and HBO loves to monetize & capitalize off of it. You should have seen some of the things happening before this clip.
Remember, I just powered up my iPhone 3GS camera on a whim to shoot this. I never planned on it being a lightning rod for a discussion on racism, I'm just pleased the discussion is happening.

I agree that the culture of Boxing can encourage racism. But in this case, all the people in the ROOM at the time of this clip ARE Chicano/Latino/Mexican and if you listen closely, were ADDRESSING the racism occurring on-screen.

U can say whatever U want but that doesn't mean that U SHOULD. or that it's right.
racism is real. especially the self righteous racism that occurs in private homes. it's the worse kind because it rarely gets challenged & then the ppl who feel that way carry their unchallenged racism out in to the world.
challenge racism each & every time U hear it.
*i'm not erasing the racist comments U see here so people can be reminded that it's real. it's not mythical & it's not a "card" to be pulled*

"tacito's all night long" ... it's funny how crackers don't have the balls to make fun of a mexican in front of his face but can easily unleash their racist comments when they are in the solace of their homes. If I ever heard a cracker make fun of a black, mexican, or anyone who is not white, I would risk going to jail and shut him up. Keep your comments to yourself cracker, or I'll fine you and skin you bitch!

dude, everybody in the room during this video is chicano/mexican. hence the humor and US calling out the commentators as RACIST first. sorry i should have mentioned that.
but yes, i would have to agree with everything you said. thanks for speaking up!
peace,
LL
