  • What two unassuming stars they are.

    Long may they reign.

They are both happy in each others company.

  • Were I a citizen of England, I would say Patricia Routledge is a "national treasure." But since I'm a citizen of the United States, I'll just say Miss Routledge is an "imported treat," one whom we don't get a chance to see as often as we should.

Does anyone know if Miss Routledge is still acting or retired? The reruns of "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" are a few years old by now, and I've seen no other programs with this fine actress since.

  • Patricia will always be Ms.Bouquet to me :) lol

  • uwielbiam ją :)))

  • Patricia Routledge is the only comedic actress who can be compared with Lucille Ball. Routledge is always magnificent; she's a treasure for everyone.

  • What thorough professionals these brilliant actors are.

  • @dackelmommy And if you like Clive Swift, who plays "Richard Bucket" on "Keeping Up Appearances," he co-stars in a fairly amusing Britcom called "Old Guys," which may still be in production.

That series also features Jane Asher, sister of legendary musician (the 1960s' pop duo Peter & Gordon) and producer (Linda Ronstadt's hits) Peter Asher. Miss Asher was also the romantic partner of Sir Paul McCartney in the '60s, prior to McCartney having met & married Linda Eastman.

  • @dackelmommy I love "Keeping Up Appearances" too. But there are some excellent TV series' currently in production nonetheless. One is "Curb Your Enthusiasm" on HBO. Another is "Men Of A Certain Age" on TNT.

Also. on broadcast TV and in syndication, "Two & A Half Men," "The Big Bang Theory" and "The Middle" have excellent production and writing, each with terrific ensemble acting.

  • My earliest theater experiences were seeing the Boston company of "Godspell" in 1972. And I was lucky to have caught Lauren Bacall on television, reprising her Tony Award-winning role in "Applause," restaged with the London cast for CBS-TV in 1973.

  • @englishbayman @englishbayman Thank you for pointing out Miss Routledge's appearances in those works.

I know she also got her early starts in the West End and on Broadway. But I was much too young to have traveled to London or New York by myself in those days, and my family situation would not have permitted it.

  • @englishbayman As for "Steptoe & Son," that series has never been broadcast on television in my area. However, I am aware that the American series "Sanford & Son" was loosely based on that series.

I never much cared for "Sanford & Son," even though I did enjoy a few of producer Norman Lear's other series', most notably "All in the Family" and "Maude," the former of which was also adapted from a British series, "Till Death Us Do Part."
