"yet they believe some magic force kills us off"
Superapplefrog - that's just plain embarrassing. Natural selection is a lable not for any force, but for the logical consequence of a few empirical facts. Please educate yourself on this very basic concept - otherwise you won't have a hope in hell of understanding anything about life sciences, and much less any chance of making an intelligent contribution to discussions about them. "yet they believe some magic force kills us off.."
I know it's been eight months, but... What the hell?

Great, very informative and important video. To a science layman like me, I appreciate it!

No. I'd be saying Natural Selection if everyone elses kids were dying of a disease but mine, because of a mutation in their genes which makes them unsucceptible to the disease survived and got to pass on their genes. Where's the magic in that?

The truth doesn't always feel good...

I wonder if everyone who THINKS all death is "natural selection" (and these are often people who think believing in a Supreme Being is stupid, yet they believe some magic force kills us off.. hmm...) will be saying "natural selection" if one of their kids dies?

As small part of the reason, yes. It was either leave the US or lose my mind.

check that. "loved **it**". By the way, what brought you to Australia? Was a dissatisfaction with the States part of the reason?

Mark, just discovered your "Piracy is Good!" (I prefer the !) video. Watched it loved you. I Spy. Watched it loved it. Looking forward to finishing this talk and reading/watching more. Thank goodness for RSS (the internet, I'll take for granted).
Very interesting, witty and well thought out, an enjoyable lecture throughly.
